PEORIA HEIGHTS, Ill - Local veterans received recognition in the form of a thank-you breakfast this morning in Peoria Heights.

State Representative Jehan Gordon-Booth held her annual Veterans Appreciation Breakfast at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall.

Guest servers from the Peoria area - including county board members and even US Representative Cheri Bustos - served and spoke with local veterans as a way to give thanks.

"It's a way to let the veterans know in this community that we appreciate, you know, the service that they've given not just to this community but to our nation."

Gordon-Booth went on to bring the veterans together in a rendition of both the national anthem and god bless America, and to promote and thank her own family's involvement in the armed forces.
